Ofcom (the Office of Communications) is the new regulator for the UK communications industry. Ofcom inherited the duties of the five communications regulators it replaced on 29 December 2003 - the Broadcasting Standards Commission (BSC), the Independent Television Commission (ITC), Oftel, the Radio Authority and the Radiocommunications Agency. Ofcom's Technology Group is responsible for providing strategic leadership on technology issues across Ofcom, with expertise covering all of Ofcom's key areas of interest, including fixed networks, broadcasting, new technologies, spectrum, standards, and mobile/wireless.
