VPRT was founded in October 1990 after the merger of two organisations with parallel objectives - the BPRT (Association of Private radio and Television Broadcasters) and the BKS (Association of Cable and Satellite). VPRT currently represents 163 companies in the area of private TV (95% of all private TV broadcasters), in the area of radio (40% of all private broadcasters which represent 85% of the total turnover the private radio), in the area of multimedia and of the telecommunication industry.
