Space Engineering

Space Engineering S.p.A.is a management-owned company incorporated in 1989 and currently employing about 140 staff. Its core business is represented by the Space Communications and Defense markets, with the following main commitment areas:

·          Design and development: -          digital equipment (based on DSP, FPGA and ASIC); -          advanced antennas (e.g. active, spot & contoured-beam): -          radio frequency components (filters, diplexers, couplers, ...); -          automated check-out equipment (for in-orbit and pre-launch tests). ·          Modelling, analysis & simulation: -          transmission systems performance evaluation (physical- and upper-layers); -          on-board and on-ground elements hardware performance assessment; -          mission analysis. ·          Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT), including flight hardware. Space Engineering has devoted substantial research work to developing a real-time hardware Test Bed representative of an end-to-end DVB-S2 channel, with a DVB-RCS return link incorporating numerous innovations with respect to the current standard. The Test Bed is now being enriched with the functionalities of the recent DVB-RCS+M standard. Space Engineering plans to enter the DVB products market starting with an Italian dual-use satellite communications system in course of development.
