Samsung is the first company in Asia to develop MPEG-2 standard digital IRDs, currently branded as Vortec. An interactive OS environment is provided by OpenTV, with EPG & IPPV as OpenTV applications. The box is capable of over-the-air download and is able to download new functions as needed. The currently marketed model is configured for QPSK channel, Irdeto CAM, Smart Card, MPEG Transport & Decoder & ASIC.
